BIOGRAPHY
Eric Johnson
Counselor Assistant at Open Arms Recovery Center, SMART Recovery Facilitator, Reentrant, and Advocate for Change

Eric is currently a Counselor Assistant at Open Arms Recovery Center in Hanover, PA. He also facilitates SMART Recovery meetings. Two meetings a week are open for the public and one meeting is for the residents at Still Waters.  In addition, Eric co-facilitates an addictions meeting for the residents at the Hanover Area Council of Churches. He is currently on the Dean’s List, while attending his second year of college at Argosy University. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Substance Abuse, he plans to pursue a Master’s in Psychology, with a concentration in the mental health field. After completing his education, Eric plans to change his career to a Dual-Diagnosis Counselor. He is currently active in the Hanover Community Needs Committee, the York County Recovery Committee, and hold an Advisory Board seat for the York County Reentry Committee. Due to being a reentrant and an individual with 22 years personal experience with addiction, he is able to give a valuable perspective to not only these committees, his career, but the community as a whole. In his spare time Eric is working on opening a recovery house in Hanover, PA and advocating for a House Bill that would give person’s sentenced to life a chance at parole after 15 years.
